Changes to D-Trust S/MIME Certificates: Deadlines and Required Actions
D-Trust has announced updates to its S/MIME certificate portfolio. As part of ongoing improvements to issuance processes, certain S/MIME certificate types will be phased out.
The affected certificates include “Advanced Personal ID,” “Advanced Enterprise (incl. SIG/ENC) ID,” and “Advanced Team ID.” These certificates will expire on May 8, 2026, at 3:00 PM. New applications for these certificate types will no longer be accepted starting May 4, 2026.
Organizations and users should take these deadlines into account and plan the transition to new certificates in a timely manner. Additional details are available in D-Trust’s official announcement.
In environments with a large number of user certificates, the transition can involve significant operational effort. Beyond requesting new certificates, organizations must also manage distribution and integration across existing IT systems.
For these scenarios, essendi xc provides robust support. The platform enables centralized certificate management and facilitates efficient bulk handling, including the automated renewal and deployment of large numbers of certificates.
Early planning is recommended to ensure a smooth transition and to avoid disruptions to secure email communications.
