Together with the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU), essendi it AG is working on the research project “Impact of post-quantum cryptography on certificate management solutions”.
IT network components can communicate securely with each other with the help of certificates. Certificate management solutions such as essendi xc manage certificates throughout their entire lifecycle. However, cryptographic processes that are still considered secure for communication today could be decoded by quantum computers in the future. This poses security risks that will not only affect future data. Data that is already encrypted today but should remain secure in the future must also be taken into account.
In our project, which has been running since the end of 2023, we are investigating and testing algorithms that are considered quantum-safe. We are also identifying recommendations on how essendi xc can be made quantum-safe.
The project is funded by Innosuisse, the Swiss Innovation Agency.
